Then when the sent ones entered unto the household of Lut. 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 "And fear Allah and disgrace me not." 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 "Here are my daughters," said Lot, "if you are so active." 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs. 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
