AND WHEN the messengers [of God] came to the house of Lot, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 He said: Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me, 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 And verily they are on a pathway lasting. 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 and We took vengeance on them. The two of them were upon a roadway manifest. 79
