At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 he said: "Surely you are an unknown folk." 62 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
