The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Praise be to Allah, Who hath sent to His Servant the Book, and hath allowed therein no Crookedness: 1 A just Book, to warn of Allah’s severe punishment, and to give glad tidings to the believers who do good deeds, that for them is an excellent reward. 2 Staying in it for ever; 3 Further, that He may warn those (also) who say, "Allah hath begotten a son": 4 No knowledge whatever have they of Him, and neither had their forefathers: dreadful - is this saying that comes out of their mouths, [and] nothing but falsehood do they utter! 5 Yet perchance, if they do not believe in this tiding, you will consume yourself with grief and follow after them. 6 Surely We have made all that is on the earth an embellishment for it in order to test people as to who of them is better in conduct. 7 And verily We are going to make whatsoever is thereon a soil bare. 8 Do you think that the people of the Cave and the Inscription (the news or the names of the people of the Cave) were a wonder among Our Signs? 9 When the youth sought refuge in the cave they prayed "Lord, grant us mercy and help us to get out of this trouble in a righteous way". 10 We sealed off their ears in the cave for a number of years, 11 and then roused them so that We might see which of the two parties could best tell the length of their stay. 12
