And undoubtedly Haroon had told them before it that, “O my people – you have needlessly fallen into trial because of this; and indeed your Lord is the Most Gracious, therefore follow me and obey my command.” 90 They said: we shall by no means cease to be assiduous to it until there returneth to us Musa. 91 Moses said to Aaron, "What prevented you, when you saw that they had gone astray, 92 from following me? Why did you disobey my command?" 93 "O son of my mother," (Aaron cried), do not pull me by my beard or my hair! I was really afraid you may say that I had created a rift among the children of Israel, and did not pay heed to your command." 94 Moses said: "What, then, is your case, O Samiri?" 95 He said, "I saw what they did not see, so I took a handful [of dust] from the track of the messenger and threw it, and thus did my soul entice me." 96 Moses said, "Begone! It shall be your lot to say throughout your life, "Do not touch me," and you will be faced with a fate from which there will be no escape. Now look at your deity to which you have become so devoted: we shall burn it up, and then scatter it into the sea. 97 Your Lord is the One who is the only God and He has the knowledge of all things. 98 Thus do We relate to you (some) of the news of what has gone before; and indeed We have given to you a Reminder from Ourselves. 99 If any do turn away therefrom, verily they will bear a burden on the Day of judgment; 100 they will abide in this [state,] and grievous for them will be the weight [of that burden] on the Day of Resurrection 101 the Day when the trumpet shall be blown: We shall gather all the sinners on that Day. Their eyes will turn blue with terror 102 They shall consult together secretly: You did tarry but ten (centuries). 103 We know best what they will say, when their leader most eminent in conduct will say: "Ye tarried not longer than a day!" 104
