Hast thou received the story of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they entered upon him and said, "[We greet you with] peace." He answered, "[And upon you] peace, [you are] a people unknown. 25 Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows]. 26 He placed it before them. Then he said, "Why are you not eating?" 27 So he conceived in his mind a fear on account of them. They said: Fear not. And they gave him the good news of a boy possessing knowledge. 28 But his wife came forward (laughing) aloud: she smote her forehead and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said: "Thus said your Lord. He is indeed all-wise and all-knowing." 30 ۞ Said he, 'And what is your business, envoys?' 31 They answered: "Behold, we have been sent unto a people lost in sin, 32 so that we bring down stones of clay upon them 33 Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors." 34 So We removed the people who had faith, from that town. 35 But did not find more than a single family of believers. 36 And We kept a sign remaining in it, for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 And in Ad: When We sent upon them the destructive wind. 41 It spared naught that it reached, but made it (all) as dust. 42 And in Samood: When it was said to them: Enjoy yourselves for a while. 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. 44 So they were not able to stand, nor could they help themselves. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
