And Harun (Aaron) indeed had said to them beforehand: "O my people! You are being tried in this, and verily, your Lord is (Allah) the Most Beneficent, so follow me and obey my order." 90 They replied, "We shall not cease to worship it until Moses returns to us." 91 He (Moses) said: O Aaron! What held thee back when thou didst see them gone astray, 92 "From following me? Didst thou then disobey my order?" 93 'Son of my mother,' Aaron said, 'take me not by the beard, or the head! I was fearful that thou wouldst say, "Thou hast divided the Children of Israel, and thou hast not observed my word." 94 (Moses) said: "What then is thy case, O Samiri?" 95 He said, "I saw what they did not see, so I took a handful [of dust] from the track of the messenger and threw it, and thus did my soul entice me." 96 He said: Begone then, surely for you it will be in this life to say, Touch (me) not; and surely there is a threat for you, which shall not be made to fail to you, and look at your god to whose worship you kept (so long); we will certainly burn it, then we will certainly scatter it a (wide) scattering in the sea. 97 Your god is only Allah, except for whom there is no deity. He has encompassed all things in knowledge." 98 Thus do We relate to thee some stories of what happened before: for We have sent thee a Message from Our own Presence. 99 Whoever turns away from it will surely carry a burden on the Day of Judgement, 100 They will remain in it forever – what an evil burden it will be for them on the Day of Resurrection! 101 On the day when the trumpet shall be blown, and We will gather the guilty, blue-eyed, on that day 102 They shall whisper among themselves: "You stayed on the earth barely ten days." 103 We know well what they will say to one another: We also know that even the most cautious in his estimate will say: "You lived in the world no more than a day." 104
