The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And your garments do purify, 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 and persevere for your Lord's sake. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 and who still desires more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he looked, 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
