A group of his people who disbelieved him and had called the Day of Judgment a lie and whom We had made prosperous in this life, said, "He is a mere mortal like you. He eats and drinks as you do. 33 "If ye obey a man like yourselves, behold, it is certain ye will be lost. 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be brought forth? 35 ۞ After, after with that which you are promised! 36 There is no life beyond our life in this world: we die and we live [but once,] and we shall never be raised from the dead! 37 He is nothing but a man who has forged against Allah a lie, we will never believe him' 38 He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me. 39 [And God] would say: "After a little while they will surely be smitten with remorse!" 40 Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong! 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor yet postpone it. 43 Then sent We our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe! 44 Then We sent Musa (Moses) and his brother Harun (Aaron), with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and manifest authority, 45 unto Pharaoh and his Council; but they waxed proud, and they were a lofty people, 46 And so they said: "Shall we believe [them] two mortals like ourselves - although their people are our slaves?" 47 So they denied them and were of those destroyed. 48 And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Musa the Book, that haply they may be guided. 49 and We made Mary's son, and his mother, to be a sign, and gave them refuge upon a height, where was a hollow and a spring: 50
