The notables among his people who had refused to believe and who denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and those whom We had endowed with ease and comfort in this life, cried out: "This is no other than a mortal like yourselves who eats what you eat and drinks what you drink. 33 And were ye to obey a human being like you, ye are forthwith to be losers. 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead, and become dust and bones, you shall be brought forth? 35 ۞ After, after with that which you are promised! 36 There is naught but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we shall not be raised (again). 37 He is nothing but a man who attributes his own lying inventions to God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 He said, 'O my Lord, help me, for that they cry me lies.' 39 Allah said: after a little while they will become regretful. 40 So the true Scream seized them – We therefore made them like rotten hay; so away with the unjust people! 41 Then We produced after them other generations. 42 No community can anticipate their term, nor can they lay behind. 43 And We sent forth Our apostles, one after another: [and] every time their apostle came to a community, they gave him the lie: and so We caused them to follow one another [into the grave,] and let them become [mere] tales: and so - away with the folk who would not believe! 44 Then We sent Musa and his brother Haroun, with Our communications and a clear authority, 45 To Firon and his chiefs, but they behaved haughtily and they were an insolent people. 46 So they said: shall we believe in two human beings like unto us, while their nation are to us slaves? 47 So they accused them of falsehood, and they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might receive guidance. 49 And [as We exalted Moses, so, too,] We made the son of Mary and his mother a symbol [of Our grace,] and provided for both an abode in a lofty place of lasting restfulness and unsullied springs. 50
