And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. 33 if you obey a human being just like yourselves, then you will surely be lost. 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead and turned to dust and bones, you will be brought forth? 35 ۞ Such a promise will never come true. 36 There is naught but our life in this world; we die and we live and we shall not be raised again. 37 He is naught but a man who has forged a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe in him. 38 He said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me." 39 Allah said: after a little while they will become regretful. 40 So they were rightly seized by a mighty blast; and We turned them into mouldy rubbish: A good riddance of the wicked people! 41 After them We brought another generation into existence. 42 No nation can live beyond its allotted time, or lag behind. 43 We sent Our messengers one after the other but whenever a Messenger would come to a nation, its people would call him a liar and We would destroy one nation after the other, thus, only their stories were left behind them. God keeps the unbelievers far away from His Mercy. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: But these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people. 46 They said, "Should we believe two men like ourselves while their people are for us in servitude?" 47 So they belied them, and they were among the destroyed. 48 We gave the Book to Moses so that perhaps they may have guidance. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Mary) and his mother as a sign, And We gave them refuge on high ground, a place of rest, security and flowing streams. 50
