O YOU APOSTLES! Partake of the good things of life, and do righteous deeds: verily, I have full knowledge of all that you do. 51 Your nation is but one nation, and I am your Lord, therefore fear Me. 52 Yet they have split their affairs between themselves into sects, each rejoicing in what it has. 53 So leave them to their ignorance for a time. 54 Do they think that We enlarge them in wealth and children, 55 We hasten unto them with good things (in this worldly life so that they will have no share of good things in the Hereafter)? Nay, but they perceive not. 56 Surely they who from fear of their Lord are cautious, 57 And they who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 who consider nothing equal to their Lord, 59 who give, whatever they give in charity, with their hearts trembling at the thought that they are destined to return to their Lord; 60 It is those who hasten to good deeds, and they outstrip [others] therein. 61 We charge not any soul save to its capacity, and with Us is a Book speaking truth, and they shall not be wronged. 62 Yet their hearts are oblivious of this; and besides, they are busy with other things, 63 To the extent that when We seized the wealthy among them with punishment, they immediately began imploring. 64 Implore not today; verily ye from Us are not to be succoured. 65 For when My revelations were read out to you, you turned back on your heels and fled 66 In arrogance regarding it, conversing by night, speaking evil. 67 Have they, then, never tried to understand this word [of God]? Or has there [now] come to them something that never came to their forefathers of old? 68 Or is it, perchance, that they have not recognized their Apostle, and so they disavow him? 69 Or do they say: There is madness in him? Nay! he has brought them the truth, and most of them are averse from the truth. 70 And if the Truth had followed their desires, verily the heavens and the earth and whosoever is therein had been corrupted. Nay, We have brought them their Reminder, but from their Reminder they now turn away. 71 Or, is it that thou askest of them any maintenance? The maintenance of thy Lord is better, and He is the Best of providers. 72 And verily thou! thou callest them unto a Path straight. 73 But those who do not believe in the Hereafter have indeed deviated from that path. 74 ۞ And even if We gave them mercy and removed what was upon them of affliction, they would persist in their transgression, wandering blindly. 75 And indeed We seized them with punishment, but they humbled not themselves to their Lord, nor did they invoke (Allah) with submission to Him. 76 until We open before them a gate of [truly] severe suffering [in the life to come]: and then, lo! they will be broken in spirit. 77
