And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
