The 'Aad belied the sent ones. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 127 Do you build on every height a monument? Vain is it that you do: 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 "And keep your duty to Him, fear Him Who has aided you with all (good things) that you know. 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 gardens, and springs. 134 I fear the punishment of a terrible day for you. 135 They said: It is all one to us whether thou preachest or art not of those who preach; 136 This is but a custom of the ancients. 137 We will not be subjected to any chastisement." 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
