The Ad gave the lie to the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? 128 and raise strong mansions as if you were to live forever? 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants. 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 And be careful of (your duty to) Him Who has given you abundance of what you know. 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 [But] they answered. "It is all one to us whether thou preachest [something new] or art not of those who [like to] preach. 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 140
