The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I ask of you no hire therefor: my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 127 Do you build monuments on every high place in vanity, 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants. 130 So be fearful of God and follow me. 131 "And keep your duty to Him, fear Him Who has aided you with all (good things) that you know. 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 And gardens and springs. 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 And we shall not be doomed. 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
