The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 when their brother Lot said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 161 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 162 Have fear of God and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 164 What, do you come to the males of the world, 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing." 166 They said, 'If thou givest not over, Lot, thou shalt assuredly be one of the expelled.' 167 He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it]. 168 'My Lord, save me and my people from that they are doing' 169 So We delivered him and his people all together, 170 save an old woman among those that tarried; 171 and then We utterly destroyed the others, 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 174 your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 175
