The dwellers of the forest also rejected the messengers. 176 Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear God? 177 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 178 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 179 my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, and be not cheaters, 181 And weigh with a balance straight. 182 And do not withhold from people what belongs to them, and do not corrupt the land; 183 And fear Him who created you and all the earlier people." 184 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 185 "Thou art no more than a mortal like us, and indeed we think thou art a liar! 186 Cause, then, fragments of the sky to fall down upon us, if thou art a man of truth!" 187 He said: My Lord is Best Aware of what ye do. 188 But they denied him, and We seized them with the torment of the Day of Shadowing (when the cloud had rained down fire). It was indeed the torment of a terrible day! 189 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 190 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 191
