The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the declining star, 1 Your companion did not err, nor did he go astray. 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 It [the Quran] is nothing but revelation sent down to him. 4 something that a very mighty one has imparted to him: 5 Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); 6 When he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he drew near, then he bowed 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him another time 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode. 15 When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it]. 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 He certainly saw the greatest (signs) of the existence of his Lord. 18 Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: 19 as well as [in] Manat, the third and last [of this triad]? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 But it is to God that the Hereafter and this world belong. 25
