The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 They have rejected it and have followed their own desires, but all matters will be settled (by God). 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 They will hasten forward to the caller, gazes fixed. And the unbelievers will say: "This is the day of untold woe." 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 And so he called unto his Lord, saying, 'I am vanquished; do Thou succour me!' 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 How terrible then was My punishment and My warning. 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
