(The tribe of) A’ad denied the Noble Messengers. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 So fear God and listen to me. 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 "Do you build high palaces on every high place, while you do not live in them? 128 "And do you get for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will live therein for ever. 129 And if ye seize by force, seize ye as tyrants? 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons, 133 gardens, and springs. 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
