Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who are sent consecutively, 1 by (the angels) as swift as blowing winds, 2 by (the angels) spreading (the words of God) far and wide, 3 And the scattering winds scattering. 4 and those hurling a reminder 5 to provide excuses for some and to give warnings to others: 6 surely, that which you have been promised is about to fall! 7 Thus, [it will come to pass] when the stars are effaced, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 when the mountains shall be scattered 10 And when the time of the Noble Messengers arrives. 11 For which day were they appointed? 12 To the Day of Judgement. 13 And what will convey unto thee what the Day of Decision is! - 14 On that day, woe will be to those who have rejected God's revelations! 15 Destroyed We not the former folk, 16 Then did We follow them up with later ones. 17 In this wise We do with the culprits. 18 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 19 Did We not create you from a humble fluid, 20 And We placed it in a firm lodging 21 till a known term decreed? 22 So We decreed. How excellent are We as decreers! 23 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 24 Made We not the earth to be a housing 25 The living and the dead, 26 and did We not firmly fix towering mountains on it and give you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 28 'Depart unto that which ye were wont to belie. 29 "Move towards the shadow of the smoke having three branches." 30 "Which neither gives shade, nor saves from the flame." 31 which - behold! - will throw up sparks like [burning] logs, 32 As if they were yellowish [black] camels. 33 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 34 This is a day in which they will not be able to speak. 35 And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse. 36 On that day, woe would be those who have rejected God's revelations! 37 that Day of Distinction [between the true and the false, when they will be told]: "We have brought you together with those [sinners] of olden times; 38 If now ye have any wit, outwit Me. 39 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 40

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
