۞ And unto (the tribe of) A'ad (We sent) their brother, Hud. He said: O my people! Serve Allah. Ye have no other Allah save Him. Will ye not ward off (evil)? 65 Said the great ones among his people, who refused to acknowledge the truth: "Verily, we see that thou art weak-minded; and verily, we think that thou art a liar!" 66 [Hud] said, "O my people, there is not foolishness in me, but I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds." 67 I convey unto you the messages of my Lord and am for you a true adviser. 68 Marvel ye that an admonition from your Lord should come unto you upon a man from amongst you in order that he may warn you? Remember what time He made you successors after the people of Nuh, and increased you amply in stature. Remember the benefits of Allah, that haply ye may fare well. 69 They said: art thou come unto us that we should worship God alone and leave that which our fathers were wont to worship? Bring thou then upon us that wherewith thou threatenest us if thou sayest sooth. 70 He said: Indeed uncleanness and wrath from your Lord have lighted upon you; what! do you dispute with me about names which you and your fathers have given? Allah has not sent any authority for them; wait then, I too with you will be of those who wait. 71 Then We delivered him and those with him by a mercy from Us, and We utterly cut off those who belied Our signs, and would not be believers. 72
