▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
No! By the moon 32 By the night when it departs. 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 A warning to mortals, 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 until death approached us". 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
