The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
