The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great event, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
