A company of the former peoples 39 and a good many of later times. 40 But those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) those of the left hand -- 41 They will find themselves in scorching wind and scalding water, 42 scalding water and under a shadow of black smoke, 43 neither cool nor refreshing. 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 and persisted in the Great Sin, 46 and they used to say, "What! After we have died and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up again? 47 Will our ancient forefathers be resurrected too? 48 Say: 'The ancients, and the later folk 49 “They will all be gathered together on the appointed time of the known day.” 50 Then you, the erring and the deniers, 51 you shall eat of a tree called Zakkoum, 52 filling your bellies with it; 53 And drinking on top of it from scalding water 54 "So you will drink (that) like thirsty camels!" 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Requital. 56 It is We who have created you. Why then did you not testify to the Truth? 57 Have ye seen that which ye emit? 58 Is it you who create it - or are We the source of its creation? 59 It was We who decreed death among you. We will not be surpassed 60 from changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that ye know not. 61 And [since] you are indeed aware of the [miracle of your] coming into being in the first instance - why, then, do you not bethink yourselves [of Us]? 62 Just ponder over what you sow: 63 Do you make it grow or is it We who make it grow? 64 If We will, We would make it broken stubble and you would remain wondering, 65 Surely we are burdened with debt: 66 nay, we are deprived [altogether]." 67 And have you seen the water that you drink? 68 Did you send it down from the clouds, or did We send it? 69 Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful? 70 See ye the Fire which ye kindle? 71 Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We the producers? 72 We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers, 73 So glorify your Lord, the most supreme. 74

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
