The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and a few from later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
