Nay, by the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 A warning for people -- 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
