Man We fashioned from fermented clay dried tingling hard, 26 whereas the invisible beings We had created, [long] before that, out of the fire of scorching winds. 27 And recall when your Lord said to the angels, “I will create man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 28 When I have shaped him, and breathed My spirit in him, fall you down, bowing before him!' 29 So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely, 30 But Iblis did not; he refused to be with the prostrates. 31 He said: O Iblis! What aileth thee that thou art not among the prostrate? 32 He replied, "I am not one to prostrate myself to a man whom You have created out of a clay of moulded mud." 33 God said, "Then get out of here; for you are accursed, 34 Condemned till the day of Doom!" 35 Said he, 'My Lord, respite me till the day they shall be raised.' 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 "Till the Day of the Time appointed." 38 He said: my Lord! because Thou hast led me to err I will surely make things fairseeming unto them on the earth and will surely seduce them all: 39 “Except those among them who are Your chosen bondmen.” 40 (Allah) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me." 41 Verily as for My bondmen, no authority shalt thou have over them, except the erring one who follow thee. 42 And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all! 43 To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
