And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, 192 The honest Spirit (Gabriel) brought it down 193 Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners - 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples. 196 Was it not a proof for them that the learned men of Israel knew about this? 197 And if We had revealed it (this Quran) unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 So that he should have recited it to them, they would not have believed therein. 199 We have thus caused denial of truth to enter into the hearts of the sinners: 200 They will not believe in it until they suffer the painful torment. 201 And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not. 202 And they will say, "May we be reprieved?" 203 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 204 But hast thou ever considered [this]: If We do allow them to enjoy [this life] for some years, 205 and then the chastisement of which they were being warned were to come upon them, 206 That which they were made to enjoy shall not avail them? 207 And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners 208 To warn. For We are never unjust. 209 And this Qur’an was not brought down by the devils. 210 they are not supposed to do so. Nor do have they the ability for such a task. 211 The satans are barred from listening to anything from the heavens. 212 Therefor invoke not with Allah another god, lest thou be one of the doomed. 213 And warn thy tribe of near kindred, 214 and extend kindness and affection to those of the believers who follow you. 215 And if they disobey thee, say thou: verily I am quit of that which ye work. 216 And rely on the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 who can see whether you stand up 218 And (seeth) thine abasement among those who fall prostrate (in worship). 219 Surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend? 221 They descend upon every sinful liar. 222 They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, the erring follow them, 224 hast thou not seen how they wander in every valley 225 And that they say what they practise not?- 226 Except those who believed and did good deeds, and profusely remembered Allah, and took revenge after they had been wronged*; and soon the unjust will come to know upon which side they will be overturned**. (* The Muslim poets who praise Allah and the Prophet. ** The disbelievers will be punished.) 227
