Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
AlifLaamMeem. 1 Those are the signs of the Wise Book 2 for a guidance and a mercy to the good-doers 3 Those who keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and they are certain of the hereafter. 4 these are rightly guided by their Lord: and these are the ones who will prosper. 5 But among men there is many a one that prefers a mere play with words [to divine guidance,] so as to lead [those] without knowledge astray from the path of God, and to turn it to ridicule: for such there is shameful suffering in store. 6 And when Our signs are recited to such a man he turns away, waxing proud, as though he heard them not, and in his ears were heaviness; so give him good tidings of a painful chastisement. 7 (As for) those who believe and do good, they shall surely have gardens of bliss, 8 Abiding in them; the promise of Allah; (a) true (promise), and He is the Mighty, the Wise. 9 He has created the heavens without any pillars, that you see and has set on the earth firm mountains, lest it should shake with you. And He has scattered therein moving (living) creatures of all kinds. And We send down water (rain) from the sky, and We cause (plants) of every goodly kind to grow therein. 10 Allah has created this – therefore show me what has been created by those other than Him; in fact the unjust are in open error. 11
