There is a sign in the dead earth for them which We quicken, and produce from it grain which they eat. 33 And We place therein gardens of the date-palms and vines; and We therein cause to gush forth springs. 34 That they may eat of His fruit. And their hands have not produced it, so will they not be grateful? 35 Holy is He Who created all things in pairs, whether it be of what the earth produces, and of themselves, and of what they do not know. 36 And a sign for them is the night; We strip it of the day and lo, they are in darkness. 37 And the sun -- it runs to a fixed resting-place; that is the ordaining of the All-mighty, the All-knowing. 38 And the moon, We have determined it in phases till it returns like an old palmbranch. 39 It is not permitted to the Sun to catch up the Moon, nor can the Night outstrip the Day: Each (just) swims along in (its own) orbit (according to Law). 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden Ark (of Noah). 41 and created for them similar things to ride. 42 We could have drowned them if We pleased, and none would have answered their cry for help, nor would they have been saved, 43 Unless by Our benevolence, to reap advantage for a time. 44 And when it is said to them: Guard against what is before you and what is behind you, that mercy may be had on you. 45 yet never any sign of the signs of their Lord comes to them, but they are turning away from it. 46 And when it is said to them, "Spend from that which Allah has provided for you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Should we feed one whom, if Allah had willed, He would have fed? You are not but in clear error." 47 They also say, 'When shall this promise come to pass, if you speak truly?' 48 They await but one Shout, which will seize them while they dispute. 49 So they shall not be able to make a bequest, nor shall they return to their families. 50
