۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 What aileth you that ye succour not one another? 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 Nay! he (Muhammad SAW) has come with the truth (i.e. Allah's Religion - Islamic Monotheism and this Quran) and he confirms the Messengers (before him who brought Allah's religion - Islamic Monotheism). 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom). 57 Then, are we not to die 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Truly, this is the supreme success! 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 On top of it they shall have a brew of boiling water, 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
