۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 "Surely, he has brought the truth, confirming those who were sent before; 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 But for the sincere worshipers of Allah, 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” 51 Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 They will eat and fill their bellies with it, 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 We had certainly sent warners to them. 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
