We were indeed gracious to Moses and Aaron, 114 We saved them and their people from great distress; 115 We helped them and they were victorious. 116 And We gave them the Book which helps to make things clear; 117 and guided them the straight way, 118 and We left them thus to be succeeded by a group [of followers] among later generations: 119 Salamun (peace) be upon Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)!" 120 Lo! thus do We reward the good. 121 Verily! They were two of Our believing slaves. 122 AND, BEHOLD, Elijah [too] was indeed one of Our message-bearers 123 when he spoke [thus] to his people: "Will you not remain conscious of God? 124 "Will you call upon Ba'l (a well- known idol of his nation whom they used to worship) and forsake the Best of creators, 125 Allah is your Lord and the Lord of your ancestors of yore.” 126 They called him a liar. Thus, all of them will suffer torment 127 Except the bondmen of Allah sincere. 128 We preserved a good name for him among posterity. 129 'Peace be upon Elias!' 130 In this way do We reward the righteous ones. 131 Lo! he is one of our believing slaves. 132 And indeed, Lot was among the messengers. 133 We saved him and all his kinsmen, 134 Except an old woman (his wife) who was among those who remained behind. 135 Then We destroyed the rest [i.e. the towns of Sodom at the place of the Dead Sea (now) in Palestine]. [See the "Book of History" by Ibn Kathir]. 136 And indeed, you pass by them in the morning 137 And at night. Will ye not therefore reflect? 138
