S (Saad)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad. I swear by the Quran, which is full of reminders of God, (that you are a Messenger). 1 Nay! those who disbelieve are in self-exaltation and opposition. 2 How many a nation did We destroy before them! (When they approached their doom) they cried out (for deliverance), but the time for deliverance was already past. 3 And they (Arab pagans) wonder that a warner (Prophet Muhammad SAW) has come to them from among themselves! And the disbelievers say: "This (Prophet Muhammad SAW) is a sorcerer, a liar. 4 Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!" 5 And the eminent among them went forth, [saying], "Continue, and be patient over [the defense of] your gods. Indeed, this is a thing intended. 6 "We never heard (the like) of this among the people of these latter days: this is nothing but a made-up tale!" 7 What, out of all of us, has the Remembrance been sent down to him (Prophet Muhammad)' No, they are doubtful about My Remembrance, no, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Do they possess the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or [that] the dominion over the heavens and the earth and all that is between them is theirs? Why, then, let them try to ascend [to God-like power] by all [conceivable] means! 10 They are only a small band among the defeated confederate tribes. 11 Before them the people of Noah, Ad, and Pharaoh of the tent-pegs gave the lie (to the Messengers) 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 There was not one of them but treated their messengers as liars, so My punishment rightly overtook them: 14
