S (Saad)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad. CONSIDER this Qur'an, endowed with all that one ought to remember! 1 No, the unbelievers exalt in their division. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed afore them, and they cried when there was not time of fleeing. 3 Now they marvel that a warner has come to them from among them; and the unbelievers say, 'This is a lying sorcerer. 4 Maketh he the gods One Allah? Lo! that is an astounding thing. 5 And their leading chiefs said: "Remain attached to your gods. There is surely some motive behind it. 6 We never heard of it in the former faith. It is surely a fabrication. 7 Hath unto him the admonition been sent down from amongst us! Yea! they are in doubt concerning My admonition. Yea! they have not yet tasted My torment. 8 Or are theirs the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Bestower? 9 Or is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend through [any] ways of access. 10 A host of deserters of the allies shall be here put to flight. 11 Before them (were many who) belied Messengers, the people of Nuh (Noah); and 'Ad; and Fir'aun (Pharaoh) the man of stakes (with which he used to punish the people), 12 and so did Thamud and the people of Lot and the people of Aykah. These were all leagued together. 13 There was not one of them but treated their messengers as liars, so My punishment rightly overtook them: 14
