Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
HA MIM. 1 By the Clear Book, 2 Lo! We have appointed it a Lecture, in Arabic that haply ye may understand. 3 Truly, it is inscribed in the Original Book, in Our keeping; it is sublime and full of wisdom. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you because you are a sinful nation? 5 We have sent many a prophet to earlier peoples 6 no Prophet came to them except that they mocked him, 7 And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded. 8 If thou wert to question them, 'Who created the heavens and the earth?' They would be sure to reply, 'they were created by (Him), the Exalted in Power, Full of Knowledge';- 9 Who has made the earth a cradle for you and made thereon paths for you so that, hopefully, you may find your way 10 And He it is who sends down, again and again, waters from the sky in due measure: and [as] We raise therewith dead land to life, even thus will you be brought forth [from the dead]. 11 it is He who created all living things in pairs and gave you ships to sail in and beasts to ride upon 12 so that perhaps when you ride them, you will recall the bounties of your Lord and when you establish your control over it you would say, "Glory belongs to Him who has made it subservient to us when we would not have been able to do so ourselves. 13 And indeed we, to our Lord, will [surely] return." 14 Yet they assign to Him some of His own (created) worshipers! Clearly, the human is unthankful. 15
