Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 I swear by the Book that makes things clear: 2 We verily, have made it a Quran in Arabic, that you may be able to understand (its meanings and its admonitions). 3 And surely it is in the original of the Book with Us, truly elevated, full of wisdom. 4 Should We withdraw the admonition from you because you are a people far gone in transgression? 5 How many a Prophet We sent among the ancients, 6 But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him. 7 We therefore destroyed the people who were more forceful than these, and the example of the earlier ones has already gone by. 8 If thou askest them, 'Who created the heavens and earth?' they will say, 'The All-mighty, the All-knowing created them.' 9 He it is who has made the earth a cradle for you, and has provided for you ways [of livelihood] thereon, so that you might follow the right path. 10 He Who sent down water from the sky in a determined measure, and thereby We revived a dead land: likewise will you be raised up (from the earth) -- 11 And Who has created all the pairs and has appointed for you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 so that you may sit firmly on their backs. Then once you have mounted them, remember your Lord's favour and say, "Glory be to Him who has subjected these creatures to us; we would never on our own have subdued them. 13 "And to our Lord, surely, must we turn back!" 14 Yet they attribute to some of His servants a share with Him (in his godhead)! truly is man a blasphemous ingrate avowed! 15
