۞ And when a description of the son of Marium is given, lo! your people raise a clamor thereat. 57 and say: 'What, are our gods better, or is he?' They do not mention him to you except to dispute, truly, they are a contentious nation. 58 [As for Jesus,] he was nothing but [a human being] a servant [of Ours] whom We had graced [with prophethood,] and whom We made an example for the children of Israel. 59 If We had so willed We could have made some of you into angels to become your successors on earth. 60 And indeed Eisa is a sign* of the Last Day, therefore do not ever doubt in the Last Day, and obey Me**; this is the Straight Path. (* The advent of Prophet Eisa to earth for the second time. ** By obeying the Noble Messenger.) 61 And let not Satan bar you [from it] - for, verily, he is your open foe! 62 And when Jesus came with the clear signs he said, 'I have come to you with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you some of that whereon you are at variance; so fear you God and obey you me. 63 Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, therefore worship Him. That is the Straight Path' 64 But the factions differed among themselves. Woe alas to the sinners for the torment of the grievous Day! 65 Do they only wait for the Hour - that it should come on them all of a sudden, while they perceive not? 66 Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous 67
