The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 And the elevated canopy 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
