Al-Najm 3 of 3
(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the Books of Moses- 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?- 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight: 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 that it is He who brings laughter and tears; 43 And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life; 44 And that He createth the pair, the male and the female. 45 of a sperm-drop, when it was cast forth, 46 And that on Him is the bringing forth a second time; 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 It is He who utterly destroyed the ancient tribes of Ad, 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 It is He who turned upside down the people of Lot 53 So they were covered with whatever covered them? 54 Which of your Lord's benefits will you then dispute about? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 The threatened Hour is nigh. 57 none except Allah can disclose it. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And you laugh, and do not weep! 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 Bow instead in adoration before God and worship Him. ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
