(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 and that man shall have only that for which he strives; 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 And that to your Lord is the finality 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 And that He it is Who giveth death and giveth life; 44 And that He creates the two mates - the male and female - 45 of a sperm-drop, when it was cast forth, 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 and that it is He alone who frees from want and causes to possess; 48 And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius 49 And that it is He (Allah) Who destroyed the former 'Ad (people), 50 And Thamud, and did not leave them, 51 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. 52 It is He who turned upside down the people of Lot 53 So that there covered them that which did cover. 54 Concerning which then, of the bounties of thy Lord, canst thou dispute? 55 He who warns you is one of the warners of old. 56 The Day of Judgment is drawing nearer. 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 And will you laugh and not weep? 60 Wasting your time in vanities? 61 So prostrate yourselves before God and worship him. ۩ 62
