Have you [Prophet] considered the man who turned away, 33 and gives a little, and then grudgingly? 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 and of Abraham, who lived up to the trust? 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 And that man shall have nothing but what he strives for- 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 And that to your Lord (Allah) is the End (Return of everything). 42 And that it is He Who causeth to laugh and causeth to weep. 43 And that He it is Who causes death and gives life- 44 And that He createth the pair, the male and the female. 45 from an ejected drop of sperm; 46 and that upon Him is the second creation 47 That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction; 48 And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that it is He Who earlier destroyed the tribe of Aad? 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lout (Lot) was sent]. 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Approaching Day has approached. 57 None besides Allah can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it). 58 Are you astonished at this news, 59 And will you laugh and not weep? 60 Wasting your time in vanities? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
