The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And extended shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
