The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgins. 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
