The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Who will be honoured 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 facing one another. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and gushing water, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 So made them as maidens. 36 chastely amorous, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
