These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient 39 And a multitude of those of later time. 40 But those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) those of the left hand -- 41 [They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water 42 and the shadows of black smoke 43 (That shadow) neither cool, nor (even) good, 44 Verily they have been heretofore affluent. 45 And they used to persist in the great violation, 46 and would say: "What! After we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 47 And also our forefathers?" 48 Say: 'Those of ancient times and those of later times 49 will indeed be gathered together at an appointed time on a Day known [only to God]: 50 Then indeed you, the astray, the deniers – 51 you shall eat (the fruit) of the Tree of Zakkum. 52 and you shall fill therewith your bellies 53 and drink on top of that boiling water 54 drinking it as thirsty camels do.” 55 This is their entertainment on the day of requital. 56 We have created you, so why do you not believe? 57 Behold! that which ye emit. 58 Is it you that create it or are We the creators? 59 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone 60 To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. 61 And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember? 62 Ponder upon the soil you till, 63 Do you make it grow or is it We who make it grow? 64 [For,] were it Our will, We could indeed turn it into chaff, and you would be left to wonder [and to lament,] 65 Verily we are undone. 66 “In fact, we were unfortunate!” 67 Have you considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you who caused it to descend from the cloud, or is it We Who cause it to descend? 69 If We will We can make it bitter, so why do you not give thanks? 70 Have you ever considered the fire which you kindle? 71 Have you raised its tree, or We have raised it? 72 We have made it to be a reminder and a benefit for the wayfarers. 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
