The Column (Al-Suff)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
All that is in the heavens and earth exalt Allah. He is the Almighty, the Wise. 1 Believers, why do you say what you never do? 2 It is most hateful to God that you do not practise what you preach; 3 Surely Allah loves those who fight in His way in ranks as if they were a firm and compact wall. 4 And remember, Moses said to his people: "O my people! why do ye vex and insult me, though ye know that I am the messenger of Allah (sent) to you?" Then when they went wrong, Allah let their hearts go wrong. For Allah guides not those who are rebellious transgressors. 5 And call to mind when Jesus, son of Mary, said: “O Children of Israel, I am Allah's Messenger to you, I verify the Torah which has come before me, and I give you the glad tiding of a Messenger who shall come after me, his name being Ahmad.” Yet when he came to them with Clear Signs they said: “This is sheer trickery.” 6 Who could be more wicked than one who invents lies about God when called to submit to Him? God does not guide the wrongdoers: 7 They desire to put out the light of Allah with their mouths but Allah will perfect His light, though the unbelievers may be averse. 8 He it is Who has sent forth the Messenger with the Guidance and the True Religion that He may make it prevail over all religion, however those that associate aught with Allah in His Divinity might dislike this. 9
